Breakfast of Champions
On April 11th CREBA held our most recent Breakfast of Champions featuring David Lipson, Vice Chairman and co-regional manager at Savills Studley. A college internship originally brought him to Savills Studley in the 1980s. The attendees loved hearing that Lipson built a career for himself without making any cold calls! However, he explained it was important to “look for a niche” and find a way to differentiate yourself by coming up with a different idea or approach to a deal.
Lipson was able to find his niche by figuring out how to navigate the GSA and put together the right team of brokers and lawyers to secure those deals. He described that their approach was to build a team of complementary skills and treat it like a business with long terms goals. He urged the attendees to “surround yourself with people who are good at things are not good at” and to focus on long term relationships. This was the key to his success.
Thank you to David for speaking and Savills Studley for hosting and for the delicious breakfast.
