CREBA First Look
On Wednesday, May 2nd, CREBA members got a “First Look” at 2112 Pennsylvania Avenue. The morning event opened with a panel discussion featuring the building developer, architect and leasing broker. Jennifer Tatum and Brad Mason represented Skanska, Kian Shamloo spoke for Gensler and Josh Kreider represented Cushman & Wakefield.
The mid-block office building with a small footprint posed a challenge to Gensler’s Kian Shamloo. This block of Pennsylvania Avenue is mainly a vehicular street without much pedestrian traffic, so the façade needed to draw attention. They designed “fins” to capture the light but not impeded the view. Jennifer and Brad further explained that with this location it is important to have easy access to get in an out and you can access the building without making any left turns.
The building will feature a 3000 SF fitness facility and retail spaces will include a restaurant. The retail spaces will appeal to GW students, neighborhood and local business communities.
Attendees were able to tour the rooftop deck and were treated to gorgeous views of the city.
Thank you to Skanska, Gensler and Cushman & Wakefield for the First Look!
