CREBA's history

 

The Commercial Real Estate Brokerage Association of Greater Washington, DC, (CREBA) and its predecessor organizations (WDCAR and GWCAR) was founded in 1982.  The CREBA mission is: To Advance the Commercial Real Estate Brokerage profession in the Greater Washington, DC area by serving its members through education, networking and recognition.

 

CREBA has approximately 500 members annually.  The membership is 75% licensed brokers and 25% affiliate members, making it the only real estate association in the Washington DC, area primarily focused on servicing the brokerage community. 

 

Each year, CREBA hosts The CREBA Awards.  This annual competition is open exclusively to CREBA members.  The awards recognize remarkable sales and leasing performance for the prior year.  CREBA also recognizes eight (8) leaders in affiliate categories.  Additionally, there are four (4) awards given that recognize a person in our industry who has consistently maintained a high level of excellence:

  • The Joseph Stettinius Jr. Leadership award

  • The Brendan McCarthy Memorial Award

  • The James L. Eichberg Broker of the Year Award

  • The Rising Star Award

 

In addition to the annual awards, CREBA also provides relevant programming for our members.  We offer 10-15 educational and networking opportunities per year:

  • CREBA Classrooms:  each “classroom” event offers an in-depth lecture, presentation or panel discussion on timely topics. 

  • CREBA’s First Look Series:  offers an inside sneak peek at a new, exciting development project.

  • CREBA’s Breakfast of Champions Series:  is open to CREBA members who come and participate with senior industry leaders in a mentor/mentee discussion. 

  • CREBA’s annual Golf Tournament (2019’s tournament had a hole in one contest winner who won a Lexus!).

  • CREBA’s annual summer kickoff party; Night at the Shore.

These offerings are unique, high level educational and networking opportunities offered to our membership.

 

CREBA continues to grow through membership and sponsorship, but we are also dedicated to giving back to our community.  CREBA has an active Community Involvement Committee which highlights the good work being done by our members and spotlights the many opportunities where we can provide services, mentor young people in need and raise funds for worthy causes.

 

CREBA is honored to serve the brokerage community and will continue to elevate the commercial real estate industry of Greater Washington, DC.
